A Remedy for "I Have Nothing to Wear!"

I’ve written before about capsule wardrobes and lean closets, and even though I get closer and closer every year, I never fully commit. The reason, honestly, is that I’ve been intimidated by the amount of time and thought that goes in to creating a capsule of the likes of Un-fancy. However, I recently read a post by Jessica Rice about how she created her own capsule wardrobe and I was totally inspired. She didn’t overthink it, but still created a lovely capsule all in one afternoon. It made me think, “I could do that!”

You should go read her post here, but some things she did that I liked ::

  • Made a realistic goal: 37 items that she’d wear for the next 30 days
  • Formed her closet around the pieces she reaches for again and again
  • Chose items with versatility (ie. could be used for layering, etc.)

Things she didn’t do ::

  • Feel constricted by a color palette
  • Shy away from prints
  • Buy anything new

At this stage in my pregnancy, I’m living in way less than 37 items (I’ve sworn off pants for the foreseeable future #dressesforever), but I really think I’m going to do this once I’m back into my normal clothes. I love how accessible Jessica made the capsule wardrobe making process.

What about you? Would you like to simplify your closet? Do you ever feel like you just don’t have anything to wear…even though you’re staring at 100 pieces of clothing? Or would you hate having such a minimal closet?
