AG Book Club :: Real Sex

It’s no secret that I talk a lot about sex here on the blog (and in person :). This topic has become increasingly important to me, both because I see it as a huge problem area both in the Church and in the culture at large, but also because I think that God’s plan is quite the opposite. Godly sex—real sex—has the potential to work amazing things in the heart of a person. Besides the presence of God, it can be the place where you experience the most pleasure, security, adventure, fun and grace.

I chose Real Sex: The Naked Truth About Chastity by Lauren F. Winner as this month’s book club selection because I think this book does a good job of explaining, in a simple and entertaining way, what God’s plan is and what it isn’t. The book helped me clarify my thoughts on so many aspects not just of sexuality, but also on other subjects like sin, community and compassion. I highly recommend this book…not just to women or married couples, but to everyone.

And because it’s what I do, here’s my video review of the book ::

So what do you think? Did you read the book? Do you find it hard to discuss sex? Does your community have a hard time brining it up in conversations? What have been the most influential books on the topic for you? Do you think this is an important subject these days? Why or why not? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
