Pretty Fall Trend

Recently I (and all of Pinterest) have been swooning over the color blue. I specifically love the hand-dyed indigo that we’re seeing all over clothes, fabrics, and decor. Here are some of my favorite examples ::

Erin Hagstrom of CaliVintage posted some beautiful pictures of the indigo dyeing she did in her mother’s backyard. You can easily see why the whole process would be addicting.

Possibly my favorite swimsuit ever, I absolutely love this cross between marbling and tie-dye. (Wouldn’t the top be so flattering?)

This pretty vase is such a stunner, and I love the way stylists have been sticking just a couple of elephant ear leaves in a vase. It creates such a dramatic effect!

This is an example of the Japanese shibori method of dyeing, which is kind of a glorified tie-dye. I’m kicking around asking a couple of friends if they want to have a craft day with me and give it a go in my backyard before the weather gets too cold.

For those of us who will have all the best intentions of a indigo dyeing craft day in the backyard, but who actually just want to spend some money and have it shipped to us in 3-5 business days, here’s a pillow from Urban Outfitters that’ll do the trick. :)

You can find a tutorial on shibori dyeing here and here. Although almost everyone uses indigo, I thought it was so interesting to find this post about dyeing with acorns!

What about you? Do you like the indigo trend? Do you decorate with blue? What are some of your favorite fall trends this year?
