Spring Trends 2016

Now that the weather is warming up, it’s fun to think of taking the sandals and shorts out of storage and start dressing for sunnier days. Also, it occurred to me a few weeks ago that I never wear dresses or skirts in the winter. Even if I try them on, I always chicken out before walking out the door and change back into pants. I just hate being cold! Needless to say, I’m looking forward to a change in wardrobe and here are some of the fun trends this year ::

Midi Length Skirts

Skirts and dresses that hit somewhere between the ankle and the knee are perfect for summer. I love this casual look and plan on hemming several of my maxi skirts and dresses to this length. So cute!

High Waist Shorts

Even shorts are being made with a high waist and I, for one, am ecstatic. So effortless and cool, this look is both practical (no more pulling up my pants every second) and beautiful (an old-fashioned and womanly silhouette). In the photo above, you’ll find another trend—a bandana worn twisted and knotted around the throat.

The One-Piece

I’ve been amazed at the number of one-pieces being sold, everywhere from J. Crew and American Eagle to Michael Kors. Bikinis still reign supreme, but if you’re someone who likes more coverage, opt for a one-piece over a tankini this year.

The Jumpsuit

Speaking of one-pieces, here’s another one-piece that can be worn all day every day. I love that a jumpsuit is a one-and-done outfit and depending on how you style it, can be worn anywhere from a picnic to a wedding.

Off The Shoulder

This gorgeous look is so perfect for the warm months, showing off your glorious collarbone and making anyone look young and flirty. I especially like it here and here.

The Slide

I’m loving the minimal slides that I’ve seen and this is probably my favorite pair. I’ve finally worn out my trusty Saltwaters, so I’m in the market for some new sandals.

Levi 501s

I know we all just finally filled our dressers with skinny jeggings, but fashion has changed its mind once again. Now it’s time for non-stretch jeans with a straight leg and a high and tiny waist. Levi 501s are the favorites in this department, but they’re extremely expensive or difficult to find. But just in case you happen upon a pair in a Goodwill, know that this is where denim is headed in the future.

What about you? What looks are you loving this spring? Any items you’ve been saving up for? Anything you love or hate on this list? I’d love to hear your thoughts!
